Day 3, Anatomy was a little intimidating at first but then I researched the inspiration behind the image and the concept they strived to achieve and it got my creative hamsters rolling! Anatomy was based on a tag from the clothing brand seedleSs, which gave me the heart of the story and the rest came shortly after. Enjoy and remember to check out the behind the scenes over at Ana’s blog!
The rustling of foliage interrupted his crafty meticulous rolling of leaves that would serve as an escape if the voices started up again. Green, a compulsive obsession with anything that would draw his focus away from what lurks on the corner of his eye. Greens were different to him than the other suppressors suggested by the overpaid psychiatrist he visited once a week. Let’s call him Kyle for the sake of storytelling. Kyle wasn’t a burnout, far from it actually, no matter what room you found yourself in, Kyle was always the smartest, he had an ability to summon the answer for anything you could think of in only a matter of seconds. The answers came so fast that Kyle began hearing them in voices other than his own. Sometimes people wouldn’t even ask him directly and he’d still have thoughts that weren’t his ready to be set free. It wasn’t until the voices started asking Kyle the questions that he began medicating. His latest nature bonfire had brought him out here, the middle of a forest he had no idea even existed. The last thing he remembers before coming to is a woman’s hand on his leg before crashing onto a nearby tree. He never medicated around others, this was how he knew the voices were actually gone, being alone was like a safe haven for Kyle.
The crunching of leaves caused Kyle to jump up from the trunk he sat in, the familiar smell of greens burning immediately lowered his guard followed by the sweetest of melodies that drew him further into the forest. Fog was becoming thicker, the melody louder, and the smell more potent. His unplanned trek brought him to a clearing with a hollow tree where a woman seemed to wait for him. The woman’s hair was pulled up, if it wasn’t for the thick fog Kyle would have thought horns were coming out of her head. The simple sight of her barely covered light skin gave him the same serenity he desperately sought from the color green. It wasn’t a coincidence that green was the only thing covering her up, with a gentle gesture she motioned at a trunk that resembled a chair, a chair that now Kyle sat on. Everything was quiet, peaceful, the woman approached him slowly and with each step the fog got thicker, thick to the point Kyle could no longer make out her features that for a second seemed disfigured. Shortly after shutting his eyes, the trunk tightened around Kyle’s arms and legs, the trees around him suddenly came to life, every voice he’d try to ignore was suddenly telling him it was all over now, everything would be okay. In one swift motion the woman in green was at his neck, with the same quickness and delicacy a Venus flytrap would apply to its prey. There was no restraint from Kyle, his face locked in a smile, the kind of smile on a person’s face when they drift gently into a good night’s sleep.
