During my perusing of the internet with some friends on my day off we came across Adventure Time: Battle Party, posted in a League of Legends forum were screenshots to this title that immediately caught our attention, starting with one of the guys trying it ironically followed with my suggestion to create accounts to be able to play in a party together we spent at least an hour or so playing match after match of this adorably fun game!
The game has lots of elements that give it is status as a MOBA, featuring a list of champions each with their own skills and abilities with the ability to customize their look with different skins.
Each character is armed with two abilities and one ultimate attack as well as a passive ability. We couldn’t help but find similarities between character abilities from this game and League of Legends, one of the reasons we found the game so entertaining besides it being Adventure Time themed. Among the character similarities were Jake the Dog, who’s primary role is that of tank with a jinxer as secondary role. Jake’s “Stretchy Grab” where he stretches his arms out onto an enemy and stuns it as he pulls himself to the first enemy it hits, is similar to League of Legends’ Amumu, who’s Bandage Toss attack tosses a sticky bandage at a target and damages them as he pulls himself onto them. Gunter’s special attack “Bottle Barrage” is a mirror version of Miss Fortune’s bullet time. Lich’s “Trail of Death” is the same as Singed’s poison trail.
Players are able to personalize their experience by selecting custom loadouts at the beginning of every match in order to triumph over the opposing team. There is only one available backpack when you start the game but if you made your account and keep on playing you will earn coins that will allow you to unlock more of these as you go.
Matches are in a 3 on 3 lineup with a layout in style of Twisted Treeline each team with three Towers and one Gumball machine similar to the Nexus in League of Legends. The first team to destroy the opposing team’s Gumball machine wins or whoever is left with more points at the end of the match. Needless to say we engaged in a few matches and each found a character that they liked above others, Lemongrab was my champion of choice.
