I decided to go in chronological order from our first adventure and it has been killing me waiting to get to this one.
YEARS IN THE MAKING. I mean 5 years we scoped out this one.
Back to school we go.
Jay always wanted to try, I always nixed it. At one point I dated a guy that lived in the town this is located in and we saw many the hoodlums get arrested and actually charged for attempting to break in. This scared me out of even trying for the longest time.
Years go by, he sucks, yadda yadda.
I start researching it more.
Then, we get a hint.
Winter entrance, easily accessible when things were frozen over.
Does it get any more Scooby Doo? Push the lamp, wall opens.
This amazing place was built in 1931 and held its last year of classes in 1976 due to a growing student population it could not accommodate. In the early 1980s, the school’s gym was used as a machine shop by Liftec Manufacturing until they ultimately went bankrupt. Liftec renovated a western section of the school’s first floor to look like a retail space. The building contains mass amounts of asbestos and lead paint. It is currently unused and sits a block from the local police department in the center of town.
To the untrained eye this place is locked up like Pandora’s box. We slip through our secret entrance and end up in the dark.
Into the explorer pack and let there be light!
Finding ourselves in the basement we start to look around the frozen over decay.
The furnace room was amazing. Also found was an old Coca Cola machine. Remnants of the old machine shop.
Then we hear it. Voices.
Can we not have one adventure without the threat of being taken away in handcuffs? And how did they know the secret entrance!?
Having just walked into the old shop front we decided if we were going to get caught that just walking out to face the music was the best bet.
Back through the preceding rooms and we come face to face with…
Two other explorers.
We have to stop meeting like this.
“Hellos” are exchanged and we go about our separate business.
Creepy couches and the old gymnasium-turned-machine-shop later we decide its time to go to the next floor.
Heading upstairs now we fight the urge to immediately seek out the reason we are here. You’ll see that later.
It’s still super dark because all the windows are boarded, but the first thing we see coming up the stairs was a large stuffed penguin.
Hints of things to come….
Passing its sad corpse we trudge around going room to room attempting not to get lost. We tackle the first floor.
Offices, logbooks, ghost toilets, science rooms, sinks a shower carpet on the walls and super creepy bathrooms…
A fun part of this whole building was the ceiling tiles were falling. The glue had lost it’s hold and while we were there many fell around us. Proven to be a fun game, unless you got hit…
Sick of the dark, up to the next.
The room leading to the stairs had carpet in inappropriate places…like little walls..
Passing through the doorway we see these little animals keeping watch over the towns crossroads.
Entirely the creepiest ever.
The toy room.
Nostalgia at its finest.
At least there’s light…
Jay and I rummaged through the lost toys then moved on to the hallway of peeling red lockers.
Avoiding the falling tiles we made our way to what I’ve been waiting to show you.
This legendary beast has been just a myth among the local explorers and if you’re lucky enough to get inside a splendor to experience.
Minus the pigeon poop, I mean holy crap.
(Ba dum tiss)
After the climax of our explore we took to the surrounding classrooms and it was like someone had left a garage sale in most of them.
There was an old art room with the names of students written in the back room hidden behind the clock.
Then we come upon the silent hill bathroom from hell.
Now, this whole place was full of ice and water, but this took the cake.
Waiting for nurses to come out of nowhere. Cue pyramid head.
Towards the end of us being there ( and getting to the point where I again, as always, was cold. ) we found some old pictures in another room filled with junk and bumped into our friends again.
How we hadn’t met up with them since we first came in was a thing in itself, but the woman shared a few local places with us we didn’t know about, so I forgave them for scaring the crap out of us.
Last classroom and last photo op.
Then back to the basement and out the secret entrance.
Skipping to the car I turned to Jay to see him looking at something. He had found Garfield trading cards and couldn’t help but collect them along our way.
sigh. Insert eye roll.
Scroll downward and leave them in the rectangle, pls.
