We’ve all been there: hanging out at the park enjoying a delicious Doritos locos tacos from Taco Bell, while longingly staring at the grassy field wishing Pokemon were real, because to catch them is your real test; to train them is your cause.
Well, Pokemon still aren’t real but this is about as close as we’re gonna get until scientists start genetically modifying animals and releasing them into the wild. Announced earlier today during a press event in Tokyo, the Pokémon company revealed Pokémon Go, a smartphone game developed by SF Startup Niantic coming to iOS & android in 2016. It seems reminiscent of the beloved N64 Pokémon camera hunting game Pokémon Snap, rightly so since that’s how is was described by Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto. Pokémon Go is location based augmented reality game that will utilize your device’s camera to search for Pokémon in real world locations, ie your surroundings. Also available is an optional wearable device called Pokémon Go Plus which will use a Bluetooth connection and notifications to alert players when actions are available, like Pokémon present in your immediate location:
