Let’s shine the light on Constable Zuvio, a short and stocky Kyuzo whose features were mostly covered in bandages to help his respiration system cope with the climate of Jakku, a desert planet with relatively comfortable temperatures. It was only a few days out of the year where even the most heat resistant of species had to stay out of the sun due to the radiation from Jakku’star capable of frying the skin right off.
Constable Zuvio’s eyes were yellow with black slit-shaped pupils and a furrowed brow that constantly made people think he was angry, a convenient assumption in a world populated by scavengers, Pirates and thieves. Zuvio’s expression was caused by years of squinting to see better since he suffered from vision problems, something common among the Kyuzo race. Zuvio’s wide-brimmed war helmet hides his features in shade.
The Kyuzo race originated gravity-heavy world causing their muscles to be more developed than those of the average bipedal species allowing them to move faster when they needed to. Zuvio is in charge of maintaining order on the Nima Outpost located near the equator of Jakku. The Constable serves alongside his deputies Drego and Streehn who also happen to be his cousins.
The constable’s tale comes right out of the pages of Landry Q. Walker’s High Noon on Jakku, a 33-page long western with a Clint Eastwood-like Kyuzo Sheriff involved with Droid gangs and bank robbers. There’s stand-offs, duels, shootouts and deceit that you can read in under an hour. Great way to familiarize yourself with the constable from The Force Awakens.
“The sun was setting, the last of the light escaping. A single shot was fired, and only one figure was left standing.”
