It was July 7, 1977 when James Bond fans everywhere got a chance to experience the wonders of an underwater car chase with 007’s very own Lotus Esprit, of course I didn’t get to enjoy that until years later when I had the pleasure of stumbling across my dad’s collection of Bond movies as a wee child who probably shouldn’t have been watching to begin with — but holy sh*tballs! Retractable fins and wheels!? SOLD!
Yeah, I know. Everyone wanted one, the S1 model for the UK Manufacture sports car gained fame through its appearance in James Bond’s tenth installment The Spy Who Loved Me and its currently being sold on eBay by username steve8phy at the buy it now price of $1,000,000.00 ITS A BARGAIN!
It’s a real James Bond Movie prop car, restored by Rick’s Restoration TV show, but does not drive or work in water !
Ok, so the car doesn’t work… YET — But Elon Musk bought one in 2013 and plans on installing a Tesla electric power train to transform it into a road-going car! It’s still exciting like any other Movie prop that gets your Jimmies rustled. Six cars were built and used in the film with only one of them being a drivable sub. There’s only three left in existence, this model being the one with retractable wheels. Check out the eBay advert and convince your wife you need a submarine project car!
