My first glimpse of this indescribably badass line of Star Wars figurines from Bandai was at NYCC last year; modeled after traditional Japanese garb, figurines in the Meisho line feature re-imagined costumes and weapons for a few of the more popular characters (all armored/masked characters; presumably for ease of stylization).
I recently splurged and purchased the Ronin Boba Fett as it was the most eye-catching out of the bunch. Look at those colors!
Let’s take a quick look at what’s in the box.
The box itself is pretty slim and simple, and seems to hint at a figma-sized figurine; but Boba ends up standing almost 7 inches tall with quite a bit of bulk! The figurine also has a nice hefty weight to it. He comes with a sword, a gun, a bunch of throwing knives that attach to his shins, and a whopping four pairs of extra hands (including a pair designed to hold the gun).
There are a ton of miniscule moving parts both on the gun and on Boba, and his jetpack is removable. The PVC is quite flexible in some places, and flex depending on how you pose him. Articulation is quite good; his bulky armor gets in the way, but that’s to be expected and not to any extent that limits posing too much. The figure doesn’t come with a stand or any kind of support, but stands very steadily on its own so I have no complaints.
The detail on this thing is INCREDIBLE. You really have to see it in person, my mediocre iPhone photos don’t do it justice at all. There are even hints of brass oxidization on the green parts of his armor.
As far as I know, Boba (and many others from the same line) are sold out in many stores, but you can still get them on sites like Amazon and Ebay; albeit for very varied and fluctuating prices.
Here are some other characters from the same line! I want them all. It hurts.
They’re mostly in the $100 range, with some of the rarer ones going for more. I think it’s worth the splurge; everything from the design to the quality is incredible and they look extremely impressive when displayed!
