We may never get a proper Metroid film from Hollywood, but passionate and talented fans are able to bridge the gap with fan films. Rainfall films bring Samus Aran to life with the help of Jessica Chobot (Nerdist) and stunt work by America Young (Halo 5)playing the intergalactic bounty hunter. Rainfall is no stranger to adapting game & comic characters to film. They were the team behind IGN’s “Legend of Zelda” trailer they released on April fools day a few years back. From their website:
Rainfall Films and director Sam Balcomb present a live action short set in the Metroid universe, starring Jessica Chobot (Nerdist) and America Young (Halo 5).
Last summer, fans voted for Metroid as the next adaptation in Rainfall’s “Fantasy Filmmaking” project, which in the past has included viral hits like Wonder Woman, and the IGN April Fools Legend of Zelda trailer. Since voting concluded, the Rainfall team, director Sam Balcomb and producers Jesse Soff and Jeff Dodson, have worked on transitioning the sci-fi property into a short film presentation.
