Last week we showed you a new gameplay trailer for Mighty No. 9, today Digital Frontier, an animation company based in Tokyo, Japan, announced during 2014 Anime Expo that they are developing Mighty No. 9: The Animated tv Series.
The story focuses on BECK, a weak transforming combat robot, who was made to fight in a combat robot league as a part of the MIGHTY NUMBERS, the strongest robots in the world. When Beck is the only robot spared from a virus that forces his teammates to destroy mankind, he has to find a way to overcome his own inadequacies so that he can stop them.
Digital Frontier is known for making high quality CG content for Games, Film and TV. With over 350 award-winning artists on hand, Digital Frontier is one of the largest animation houses in Japan. Some of their work credit includes Appleseed(2004), Appleseed Saga: Ex Machina (2007), Metal Gear Solid 4 (2008), White Knight Chronicles (2008) and Metal Gear Rising (2013) among others.
UPDATE: as of the posting of this article Keiji Inafune has just released a New Funding Campaign Announcement for Mighty No.9 featuring some new gameplay scenes for the upcoming crowdsourced game.
