Merry non-denominational holiday eve everyone! May all your tamales be tightly wrapped.
Here we are again with another entry into the hall of nerdy tunes thursday. This week is Nerdist’s gaming editor and friend Malik Forte.
Before being brought on as gaming editor, he was a writer for the gaming blog Max Level and making gaming videos on youtube. In past interviews when asked “where does his passion from gaming stem from/why gaming/what is it about games?” His replies usually consist of When he was a kid his mom would use video games as a deterrent /distractions of/from the bad influences going on outside. She was also proactive about sitting down with him with stuff he was playing (ie Mortal Kombat ) & used the opportunity to segue into explaining violence and sexual themes. So Malik’s relationship with video games developed from a young age and would later be a big part of his adult career. Another passion of Malik’s is music, and the proof of each passion bleeding into the other can be seen in his Nathan Drake raps:
Recently, Malik posted a new hip hop track to his Soundcloud page titled “Still Here”, and he says there’s more to come in 2016:
