Out later this fall
EA has been teasing the next need for speed throughout this week and today we get the full reveal. The next entry in the racing franchise, simply titled Need for Speed is a reboot (hence the stripped down name) and according to developer Ghost games, who developed NFS:Rivals, hopes to build on what made the series popular. Deep customization, car culture, an immersive narrative, and a nocturnal open world will hopefully yield a product that will attract virtual car enthusiasts. Marcus Nilsson, Executive Producer at Ghost Games, says,
“Need for Speed is one of the most iconic names in gaming, and we’re returning it to greatness in this reboot. Pulling on our 20 years of history and then taking a year out from releasing a game, we are making the game we’ve always wanted to. We’re listening to the fans and delivering an experience that will capture their imagination and unleash their passion for cars and speed.”
This is sounding like an updated version of one of my favorite NFS entries, Need For Speed:Underground and Need for speed:Underground rivals on psp, and if they can deliver a next gen racing experience, then this will be a day 1 purchase for me.
