If you are a Playstation Plus subscriber( if you arent there’s a little suprise for you at the bottom), you can now access the first episode of Powers, Sony’s original police procedural series about cases involving “powers” (individuals with super powers.) Adapted from the comic books created by Brian Michael Bendis and Avon Oeming, the series follows Chicago homicide detectives Sharlito Copley (District 9, Elysium) and Susan Heyward (The Following), and ounding out the cast is Michelle Forbes, Noah Taylor and Eddie Izzard. PSN+ members not only get the first episode free, but they will also be able to watch the entire first season (10 episodes) as a member perk. The serie’s tagline is as follows:
Powers, an edgy dramatic series, follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker
and Deena Pilgrim, who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with superhuman
abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions,
what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power
was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals?Enter the men and women of the Powers Division, the brave people in charge of protecting humans like us and keeping the peace over commercialized, god-like men and women who glide through the sky imposing their power over the mortals who both worship and fear them.
So think Men in Black, but with superheroes instead of aliens. Early reviews are saying that the show picks up around the 2nd or 3rd episode, so in case you dont really like the pilot, stick it out a bit longer before you completely write it off. For non-PSN+ subscribers, the first episode is available to view on Youtube. Be sure to let us know how you liked it in the comments or tweet us at @nerdworktweets !
