Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar games’ open world western epic, which was originally slated for a Fall 2017 release, has been delayed. In development for the PlayStation 4 & Xbox one, players can now look forward to roaming the Wild West sometime in Spring 2018. This will be Rockstar’s first game developed from the ground up for current gen consoles (Grand Theft Auto 5 was an upgraded last gen game) and will undoubtedly set the bar for open world games yet again.
Rockstar released a statement on their website, “We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer. In the meantime, please enjoy this selection of new screenshots from the world of Red Dead Redemption 2.”
Rockstar is one of the few developers that can be given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to delays. GTA4, Red Dead Redemption, and GTA 5 all experienced delays that resulted in a more polished product that reflects the pedigree of the studio.
