Similar to Obi-wan’s attempt to apprehend Jango Fett on Kamino, light saber wielding fans converged on the Embarcadero Marina Park during a soaking wet clash in San Diego to take part in Light Saber Battle 2015. Sides were picked, alliances forged, and many a plastic light up sword littered the battlefield post battle. The dates and location of these battles spanned from December 18th-19th and took place in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and San Diego. The events are the works of Toronto based Newmindspace. Thousands of participants in the aforementioned cities celebrated the return of Star Wars into theaters with massive lightsaber battles and A RecordSetter world record attempt. From their “About me”:
The Light Battle Tour is brought to you by Newmindspace, who have been putting on free, fun, all-ages urban events since 2005. The biggest of which is International Pillow Fight Day – now celebrated in 150 cities worldwide! Newmindspace is a Toronto-based events company founded by Kevin Bracken and Lori Kufner. Since March of 2005, they have been organizing free, fun, all-ages events like parties on subway cars, public pillow fights, giant games of capture the flag on city streets, massive bubble battles, public art installations and much more.
