This morning, the Pokemon Company showed their ad that will be airing February 7 during the Super Bowl. I’ll let you watch it first, and then let you know of things you probably didn’t notice.
That was it. Short, expensive, and great if you ask me.
This is not an ad about a new game, card set or anything like that. It’s a celebration. 20 years of Pokemon. It’s a nostalgic short that is most likely aimed at people who drifted away from the Pokemon universe, I mean, it is 20 years old already! Just tell me, do you still go back and play your old Pokemon games? Are you still spending hours trying to “Catch em’ all”? Maybe you are, but not everyone is. I feel like this was made, to bring back all those people who lost interest in Pokemon.
The video also includes a lot of easter eggs you might have not noticed! Did you catch the Pokemon drawings in the car? How about this “Learn how to SURF HM03” poster?
Chess? I bet you didn’t catch the Nidoking piece in one of the boards!
A very important one, is the football players jerseys. Do you remember the year Pokemon was released? That’s right. 1996. Right when they’re leaving, under the “Like no one ever was” which is another reference to the Pokemon theme song. And if I’m not wrong, they’re helmets also have the Fire Energy.
Maybe you saw saw this Moomoo Milk to the left, but did you catch the rare candy to the right? Those are important!
And then, of course, we get to see the stars, the trainers and Pokemon. Gyarados, Mega Lucario, Magneton and Charizard.
A very nice, short and nostalgic ad if you ask me. Let me know if you caught something I didn’t! And if you’re not training your Pokemon anymore, what are you waiting for! It’s you chance to go back. With Pokemon Go coming soon and Pokken Tournament on March 18, you have a lot of opportunities to do it. #TrainOn!
