Shortly after finding out that Supergirl would be flying over to the CW, we got wind of The Man of Steel planned on visiting his cousin in National City. While we’ve never actually seen Supes’ on the screen, he’s always been present in the universe either through text or via younger self. Clark Kent is scheduled to appear in the first two episodes of the show’s second season with Teen Wolf actor Tyler Hoechlin in charge of the mantle. Tyler joins George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, Tom Welling, Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill in the list of people to have taken on the Man of Steel role.
Producer Andrew Kreisberg released in a statement to “have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.” Plot details are unknown for the time being so we can only wonder and speculate why Clark is coming to town and if he’s in it for the long run.
Its exciting to see Supergirl on the CW, as that would make her appearance on the yearly crossover event between DC’s TV properties (The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow) much more doable, I wonder if she’ll bring her cousin along for the playdate. Its exciting to see Clark Kent being added to the CW-verse, however I do hope the series doesn’t shift focus from Melissa Benoist as she has done a superb job at giving women on screen presence in the world of superheroes.
Supergirl returns Mondays this fall on the CW. As always this is the internet and what good would it be without an actual conversation, I’d like to know your thoughts on Superman joining the cast in the comments below or over @NerdworkTweets!
