Even though Sony is working on bringing Uncharted to the big screen, I feel it may be awhile before we see that come to fruition. In case you missed it, there was a version that had Mark Whalberg cast as Nathan Drake & David O. Russell directing, & the film’s synopsis be like:
“… There’s a family that’s a force to be reckoned with in the world of international art and antiquities … [a family] that deals with heads of state and heads of museums and metes out justice… We’ll have the family dynamic… And then you take that and put it on the bigger, more muscular stage of an international action picture, but also put all the character stuff in it. That’s a really cool idea to me.”
Ultimately, there were creative differences between the director’s vision and Sony wanting to stay faithful to the source material, so they parted ways.
Fortunately for us, a group of Scandanavian filmmakers got together, and with Martin Sofiedal’s direction, created a really good recreation of the game’s opening scene/mission. Check it out, then compare it to the original (warning:not in english):
