After weeks of teases, leaks, and general tomfoolery, Watchdogs 2 has been confirmed as a thing that exists! The next entry in the Ninten_Dogs and Sleeping_dogs trilogy (What? They aren’t related? Everything makes so much sense now!)
On Wednesday morning Ubisoft lifted the hoodie off Hacker Simulator 2016, aka Watchdogs 2. Replacing Trenchcoat McHats (Aiden Pearce) as the new protagonist is Marcus Halloway, a member of the hacktivist group DedSec. We also travel to a new location, to the windy apple (nickname pending), San Francisco. We’re introduced to new gadgets, abilities, and how you’ll be able to team up with friends online. Some things that stood out to me is how much better the game looks. The controversy that surrounded the first game centered around the noticeable graphical downgrade that occurred from its premiere on the E3 stage to release. The game still looked pretty good, but a far cry (lol) from its debut. Another new element is your characters parkour abilities. You’ll be traversing SF hella in style with sweet backflips, jumping off walls, and sliding into cover. Ubisoft seems to have borrowed some mechanics from Assassin’s Creed and The Division in designing Marcus’ movements, which will hopefully result in some tight finely tuned controls. Check out the trailer and gameplay below! (or if you’d like to experience the full 18 minute reveal with commentary from the developers along with gameplay, click on the video below that).
