Alright, here goes my first and only minor SPOILER alert nerds. If you haven’t seen Guardians of The Galaxy yet, STOP READING RIGHT NOW AND GO WATCH IT BECAUSE REASONS. You have been warned. This week Marvel released their space epic Guardians of The Galaxy, introducing several movie goers to the expanded universe of Marvel comics.
Introducing newcomers to characters in the likes of Star-Lord and the Nova corps left those less versed in the world of comics wondering what certain references were all about, recently we covered that after-credits scene that featured a feathery class-act. Today we decided to shed some light on Peter Jason Quill’s heritage and what John C. Reilly meant when he informed our hero of his actual origin.
Who exactly were the Ravagers supposed to deliver Peter Quill to? According to Yondu, Star-Lord’s dad is a jackass! Born to Meredith of earth and J’son of Spartax, half terran, half Spartoi. J’son of Spartax also known as “Jason of Sparta” (that’s why Quill’s middle name is Jason!), is the Emperor to the Spartoi empire, which would make Star-lord an actual Star-Prince! ohh you clever Corpsman Dey (John C. Reilly) and your foreshadowing by mistakenly calling Star-lord a prince.
Right around the time war broke out between the Spartoi and Ariguans, Emperor Eson(Jason’s Father), summoned Jason back to Spartax who crash-landed on Earth on the way back. He met a human woman named Meredith Quill, whom he fell in love with but had to leave in order to continue fighting in the war. She would later give birth to a boy by the name of Peter Jason Quill. Jason eventually became Emperor of Spartax
In the current Guardians of The Galaxy series by Bendis he’s kind of an all around tyrant ass! Jason approaches Star-Lord at a bar and informs him that it is forbidden for any Alien species to visit earth — but of course our heroes alongside Iron Man defend earth from a Badoon ship, which counts as violating the “Earth-is-off-limits” rule and they are to be placed under arrest immediately.
So, recap – Star-Lord is a prince, half terran, half spartoi — his dad is kind of a douche and happens to be royalty, its got a very skywalker-esque feel to the situation! Now for the Howard the Duck Giveaway I promised — All you have to do is Answer in the comments down below, aside from She-Hulk, who else has Howard the Duck teamed up with?
