After the explosive conclusion of Marvel’s Star Wars: Darth Vader last October, we were wondering when we’d be seeing the dark lord once more. Today Marvel announced that the Dark Lord would be getting a brand new series, this time set after the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith, whereas the last one was set after the events of A New Hope. This June, Darth Vader #1 hits comic book stores and newsstands everywhere with writer Charles Soule (Poe Dameron, Astonishing X-Men) and artist Giuseppe Camuncoli (Amazing Spider-Man) to chronicle the rise of one of the greatest villains in science fiction.
“I’m so excited that we get to tell more stories about the best villain of all time…and this time, we get to show his very first steps into the Dark Side,” – Jordan D. White
Series Editor Jordan D. White tells Marvel.com in an interview, “I was blown away by some of the stuff we plan to show in this series…and I think readers will be, too—from hardcore Star Wars fanatics to those who want to see more of that deadly threat from the end of Rogue One. Charles has an evil streak in him that readers might have seen whenever he’s written Palpatine in the past. Now, that comes front and center.”
The series will cover iconic moments in the dark lord’s saga, from the construction of his famous red lightsaber, the fallout of order 66, the beginnings of the inquisitor program, and the rise of the Empire.
